So where's the next Ninja-Ja: update?

Want to get the legendary dogs? Shiny Mew? or any other shiny pokemon in the game? Adopt them today using SnD coins! Purchase some SnD coins and get Ninja-ja bonus items free! Click here for more info.

Visit the PTD: Pokemon Center - a place to trade pokemon, get your Daily Code, adopt Pokemon, view your items and change your avatar!

For those of you who have been asking about when the next Ninja-Ja update will be out here's a quick explanation.

When I started on this update I had a few new features in mind that I wanted to add that would open the game up to more than just survival and top scores. As I was developing these features I realized some current things needed to be changed to accommodate the new stuff. What ended up happening was I noticed that some of the core code needed to be revamped a bit as it wasn't originally designed with these new features in mind. Also since I'm still a beginner at programming as I get better I notice some mistakes that I've made earlier that are hindering progress so I have to go back and fix them. This all adds up to a lot of work that needs to done before I continue with adding things but is good because once I have it in place then future updates should come faster.

So while I don't have an ETA for the next update it will have a bunch of new stuff like Story Mode which has an intro and boss fight, attacking as well as defending, actual enemies you can hit with ranged weapons, and different ranged weapon mechanics since they are primarily used for attacking now.

Anywho that's all for now, just wanted to keep you guys in the loop. Sorry for the delay! I know some of you are eager to try it out but bare with me while I get this set up properly and learn some more about programming so I can do things faster. As always any suggestions, comments, and general feedback is appreciated, thanks!

    This weekends update and more!

We are slowly but surely getting to a good spot, let's keep going!

Want to play Ninja-ja? Get a shiny pikachu, shiny mew, shiny starter, shiny magikarp or have your suggestion for a weapon design to be used on Ninja-ja? Click here for more info on how you can get those things.

The reason many of you couldn't save is that the server that I'm paying for only allows 150 connections on at the same time. So I payed for an upgrade to the server to allow double that. The upgrade takes about 24 hours so you will be seeing the difference soon.

I think that the auto-save is saving too often I will be moving it so that it saves after the level is finished and when you press back on the "Mode select" screen. Right now when you enter the "Mode" Screen it will save automatically I will change it so it happens when you press back from that screen. Meaning when you go back to your profile selection.

Also I will add a manual save button in the "Mode" screen that way if you feel unsure you can just manually save. These changes should lower the amount of saving going on thus decreasing the server load and reducing all problems with saving.

Okay moving on. The poll seems to be busted (No, you aren't the only person that voted everybody is seeing their vote as the only one). But I'm pretty sure nobody is against and Experience Gain and Shiny Encounter Rate boost for this week coming week only. The reason for this is many people weren't saving their profile online and when this new version came out they ended up losing a lot of their progress. This boost will help you get back to where you were before.

The boost will be 50% more experience on all kills.
Shiny Rate will go from 0.1% to 0.4% that is four times more likely to find a shiny.

Both of these will go back down for the update after.

This update I hope will be really exciting! There will be a one week only event and you will have a chance to fight and use legendary pokemon. There will be 3 mystery code hunts this weekend one for each of the legendary dogs. After the week is over the legendary dogs will no longer be available and will be removed from everybody's account. The point of having them is to have a fun one time event, and being able to have pokemon with massive power. I hope you guys enjoy it.

On top of that there will be a new story level, featuring the S.S. Anne, and a gym battle so I hope you guys can enjoy that.

Before I forget to mention, we added a new way to get Ninja-ja: Apprentice Edition for free. Click on this link or go to the "Get Ninja-ja" page and click on the get it free button. Basically if you can complete any of the offers on that page then you get the game for free. If you guys want me to have this available for the other version of the game let me know.

Also soon we will have a completely free version of Ninja-ja that doesn't include any of the prizes, so look forward to that also.

Last I leave you with the progress list:

Increase Experience Gain by 50% (100%)

        • Fixed Flamethrower and Hydro Pump hitting everybody with the same damage as the target. (Example: If your flamethrower target was a water pokemon it would hit everybody with weaker damage and it would show as hitting everybody with the "not effective" color.) (100%)
        • Brought Earthquake's attack power down since it can't hit your towers yet (from 40 -> to 20) (100%)
        • When you trade now the exp of your pokemon will be saved (100%)

Ninja-ja: Alpha v1.2 update is now available! Pokemon Tower Defense: v3.1.5 now available!

Want to play Ninja-ja? Get a shiny pikachu, shiny mew, shiny starter, shiny magikarp or have your suggestion for a weapon design to be used on Ninja-ja? Click here for more info on how you can get those things.

Hey guys! Sorry for the long delay on this Ninja-ja update. We've decided that it would be good if I (Dan) learned a bit more programming in order to free up Sam so that he can focus more on PTD stuff. So these first few Ninja-ja updates will most likely be a bit smaller and take longer than expected but we'll catch up over time and make it worth your while!

The Android version of Ninja-ja is on hold for now. We know a lot of you are requesting it but it introduces some issues that we're still dealing with. We'll definitely be releasing it in the near future though and possibly for the iPhone as well.

We've got a lot of cool stuff planned for Ninja-ja and there's certainly a good amount of you interested in it so you can expect a lot more to come!

This time we'll be sending out an email to everyone that purchased Ninja-ja which will include a link to the Ninja-ja updates page. Here you'll be able to grab any version of the game including all future updates. If you don't get the email within a few days email me at dbell1984@gmail.com

Here are the current changes in this update:

            Added Metal Sounds
            Added Grunt Sounds
            Added Death Sound
            Added Ninja Shadow
Added Intro Skip Ability (Just click anywhere)
            Added Health Bar Regen
            Added Combo Counter
Added Shuriken Weapon (It's a bit overpowered at the moment lol)
            Fixed Holes Overlapping Bug

As always, comments and suggestions are welcomed and encouraged.

            Thanks and enjoy!

Pokemon Tower Defense update is now up on the blog!

            It includes:
            • New achievement added.
            • New pokemon to obtain, by code hunt and by achievement.
            • Dragon Rage, Metronome, Powdered Snow's cooldown is now 18.
            • Avalanche's graphic should now show correctly.
            • Fixed a couple of attack description's type colors that were off.
Look at the previous blog for more details on what this update includes.

            Where can I play?
As always let me know what you think of the new features added to this update.

            Thanks for the continued support.

Weekly Update: What's coming next for PTD, Ninja-ja's update, and taking a break!

Want to play Ninja-ja? Get a shiny pikachu, shiny mew, shiny starter, shiny magikarp or have your suggestion for a weapon design to be used on Ninja-ja? Click here for more info on how you can get those things.

            Happy Monday!

Ninja-ja's update will be coming this week, we apologize for the lateness.

I will be taking a break from updating PTD this week, meaning there won't be an update this weekend. Constantly updating a game can put a lot of strain so every once in a while I will take a weekly break to recharge my batteries.

Update: I'm considering adding a new mode called "Classic". Basically in this mode your pokemon's attacks will have the same stats as the original game or as close as possible. You will be able to use the same pokemon for both "Classic" and regular mode but there will be different achievements for each mode. In regular mode the attacks will be more balanced and towers will have health. In classic mode towers won't have health and attacks will do the attack power that the original games have (based on Gen 5). Vote on the poll and let me know what you think.

But I want to talk about what's coming next for the game and just comment in more detail about a lot of the questions and concerns you guys are all having.

First about the move balancing. By looking at the poll I can see that a lot of you guys liked the balancing except for a few special moves that could use some more love or uniqueness.

So for the next update you can expect quick attack and extremespeed (to name a few) will have a lower cooldown.

I will also be looking at how difficult or how high of a level you need to reach to get a move in order to figure out the appropriate damage it should do. If you can just buy a TM then chances are the move won't get significantly stronger, but there are some specific exceptions.

Let's look at Earthquake! It hits everybody on the field while it has a target in range for 20 attack power. Most of you think this is too low, which I can understand seeing as how powerful the move is in the real game. I can make it stronger (40 attack power) but there needs to be a drawback to such strength. I tried longer cooldowns but I just don't like how it makes some moves useless. Some people in the chat actually mentioned something that I originally sorta brushed off as I won't be adding that to the game. But today thinking about it, I think it can work. So for the next update I will be introducing.... Tower Health!

That's right your towers will now have a health bar, just like the enemy! But slow down a bit... the enemy isn't going to stop and do attacks towards you. The point is that a move like double-edge can now actually have a recoil damage (and much higher attack power). A move like recover is useful while defending, and best of all, defense moves will be useful both in attacking and defending, a defense move will lower the amount of damage received from all sources.

Another big thing is the duration of defense and offense buffs. It is a pain to keep using rage every time it runs out on one pokemon, imagine keeping it up on all 6! Therefore I'm drastically increasing the duration of these buffs. They won't last forever but you won't have to re apply them nearly as often making it more manageable to use in battle.

Now let's talk about trading. Trading is going to change radically. The trading center is coming, and no more trade codes! You will be able to search for the pokemon you want or search for somebody that wants your pokemon, also transferring pokemon from one save to another will be easier than ever.

Next update will also include two new story mode levels one being the S.S. Anne level and the other being the Vermillion Gym level. You can expect to get the HM Cut, and you can expect to use it on different levels to find secrets.

Lastly I haven't forgotten about Daily Codes, Missing Relearner moves, so those will be coming also.

Below is my progress on these things, keep checking back to see how I'm doing!

            Tower Health (50%)
            Move Balancing (0%)
            Buff Durations (0%)
            Trading Center (0%)
            Story Levels (0%)
            Daily Codes (0%)
            New TMs (0%)
            Relearn Moves (0%)
            New Pokemon (0%)
New achievements (0%) (old ones won't get removed ever)

That's all I have for now, as always let me know what you think, read the FAQ and also read the comments on this blog post before you post as I won't be publishing comments that have already been asked.

            • New TMs:

              • Sandstorm
              • Giga Drain
              • Earthquake
              • Rock Tomb
              • Rest
              • DynamicPunch
              • Rollout
              • Roar
              • Sweet Scent
              • Protect
              • Rain Dance
            • New Relearn Move:
              • Nasty Plot
                Flamethrower animation in progress
                  • New additions
                    • For all those asking for a mute button. Instead of an Exit button there is now a Menu Button on the level that will let you change the audio settings right from the level, and also change if you wish to see the damage numbers among other things.
                    • Added a damage number feature, whenever you do damage to an enemy the amount of damage you did will show up above the enemy. Black text means the attack was normal, orange will be for super effective and dark gray will be for ineffective attacks.
                    • Added an experience number feature, whenever you get experience the amount will show up on top of your pokemon.(Thanks for reminding me Darren)
                    • Changing most damaging attack cooldowns down to 18 but reducing their attack power. This will result in some moves hitting for less but hitting more frequently.
                      • Example: Flame burst: Old Cooldown: 54 - New Cooldown: 18 and Old Attack Power: 70 - New Attack Power: 40
                    • Re balancing the attack power of all moves so some of the weaker moves (Absorb) are more in line with everything else, some of the stronger moves will have their attack power lowered so that all the moves aren't drastically separate in attack power.
                      • Example: Absorb: Old Attack Power: 20 - New Attack Power: 40.
                      • Example: Drill Peck: Old Attack Power: 80 - New Attack Power: 70
                    • Changed Poison Powder and Toxic Spikes to "badly" poison the target, meaning it will do double damage.
                        • Bugs
                          • When you exit out of a story level it will take you to the correct chapter page instead of the chapter select screen.
                          • Fixed issue with not losing a level when all the candy is taken.
                          • Rock Blast was hitting for an extra hit, this is now fixed. Example: It would hit 6 times instead of 5,  or 5 times when it only got 4.
                          • Pokemon on Vermillion City now have a more balanced defense, this will make moves like Aqua Tail hit for more on Fire and Ground types and Water Pulse hit for less. Instead of having x4 Physical Defense they will have x2 Physical Defense and x2Special Defense. Overall it should make the level a little harder.
                          • Pay Day will now only give 10 extra poke dollars per hit.
                          • Fixed issue with using healing moves while defending.
                          • Fixed Graphical issue with the move Endeavor.
                          • You can now view more than 20 TMs for a pokemon.
This won't be the only thing coming to the update, so keep coming back to see what else will be added.

Enjoy and tell me what you think.

                          Weekly Progress: PTD and Ninja-ja

Hey guys, another week of updates is coming your way.

Want to play Ninja-ja? Get a shiny pikachu, shiny mew, shiny starter, shiny magikarp or have your suggestion for a weapon design to be used on Ninja-ja? Click here for more info on how you can get those things.

You might have noticed the new poll asking about Anonymous posting on the comments, the reason I have it there is because there has been a lot of spam lately and I wanted to see how the majority of you feel about the issue.

Ninja-ja will have an update this week but I don't have all the details set yet, I will post them once I get them ready.

Want to play Ninja-ja? Get a shiny pikachu, shiny mew, shiny starter or have your suggestion for a weapon design to be used on Ninja-ja? Click here for more info on how you can get those things.

The pokemon tower defense update is still happening, and here is what we have for you guys:
                                    • Final Touches and distribution (100%)

                                    • Relearn only moves (ex. Thunder Fang for Arbok) (Postponed)
                                    • Pokedex/Achievements (you decide which one on the poll above) (100%)
For the New Feature I have added a short poll on the website, you guys get to decide which feature you would like first.
                                    • Pokedex/Achievements - A pokedex will be added to the game to keep track of who you saw and who you caught, also achievements will be added into the game for finding certain pokemon and completing certain task, like beating a level without losing candy.
                                    • Targeting System - Your towers will be able to target different units depending on what command you give your pokemon. For example, attack first, attack last, attack lowest health..etc.
                                    • Different Pokeballs - Be able to buy different pokeballs that will let you catch pokemon at higher percentages.
                                    • Trading Center - A place that you can search for trades being done by other players. Search by who you want in the trade or search by what you want to trade, all trades will be handled by the game so once both sides agree on the trade you will both get them immediately.
                                    Choose wisely :)

Also the last poll it seems like you guys want to keep trading, so trading will stay, in the future I might tweak things here and there but for now it stays like it is.

I also added two new tabs to the site called "Suggestions" and "Bugs" these will cover both games PTD and Ninja-ja, make sure you read them before you offer a suggestions.

The artist search is almost completed I sent emails to the top 9 applications that we received that fit into what our next game is going to be. Once they answer the emails we will pick from there. If you didn't get an email and you applied I just have to say thank you for even considering applying for the position, a lot of you had great art and we might contact you for a different game but for our next game we were looking for something very specific, some time this week I will send out a thank you letter to all who applied.

Thanks again for sticking around, the support is greatly appreciated. Let's continue on this journey! As always, let me know what you think.

Looking at the poll it seems that most of you liked the change of scenery around here so I will keep this new layout for a while until we all get tired of it.

An update about the artist position, we still haven't decided on who are going to pick but we have narrowed it down from 77 applications to about 17 that we really liked. If you haven't applied but are interested then you are more than welcome to submit your portfolio to sotero86@gmail.com. But before you do, look at past blogs to find out what the requirements are.

What's next? Pokemon Tower Defense v2.5 update this weekend!

Want to play Ninja-ja? Get a shiny pikachu, shiny mew, shiny starter or have your suggestion for a weapon design to be used on Ninja-ja? Click here for more info on how you can get those things.

I just want to personally thank everybody that bought Ninja-ja, you are helping to support Dan and I to continue to grow and keep making games for you guys, we still have a long way to go but we are going to keep going at it until we make it.

Also I had a good break, I still put out an update and released Ninja-ja but I did manage to gather my thoughts and clear my mind a bit. Some of you might have noticed that Dan is now answering blog questions, so feel free to ask him anything :)

I do read everybody's comments and email, even though it is impossible to answer them all in a timely fashion, but I wanted to let you guys know that your comments and suggestions are being heard.

So I wanted to comment on a couple of things, this new level will have the appearance of a non Generation I pokemon (I won't spoil it so wait until the update to find out) but you won't be able to capture it. Also as of right now I don't plan on including any non generation 1 pokemon that will be able to be captured. Once the game is done and you can capture all 151 I will decide on what I will do. So please don't ask about including crobat (lol), and if you see somebody asking about it let them know :)

Another thing is Mystery Gift Codes, there are only 2 free codes available (pidgey and jigglypuff ) at this time and both of them will expire this weekend when v2.5 comes out. If you happen to hear from somebody of a code or just randomly type in a code and it says this code is used, that means that somebody at some point got that code and used it already. Only the free codes can be used over and over, but codes for pikachu or starters or mew can only be used once, and those are not given out for free. But if you really want to get a mew you don't have to worry because he will be in the game eventually in a future update. So while shiny mew is exclusive to those who pay, regular mew should be available to all.

We are committed to making games that you guys want to play and making them better based on what you guys want, but we still want to be creative ourselves and we want to surprise you guys with new and unique ideas.

Thanks for all the continued support.

This is the last week we are giving away a shiny Jigglypuff, thanks again to my friend at PlayTowerDefenceGames.com, the clues are a little harder this time so good luck. Click here to start your mystery gift code hunt.

Okay let's get down to the update.

First of all this update will be most likely be coming out this weekend (Fri-Sun), the list below is what I'm focusing on for this update. The list doesn't apply to earlier versions of the game, only for v2.5. The list is not complete and I will be adding more to it as I get things done.

UPDATE coming out withing a couple hours!

                                    Trading/Transferring  (100%)
                                    • You will be able to trade or transfer a pokemon from one profile to another. This includes from your first profile to your second or third. You can also trade or transfer a pokemon to a different account all together be it your other account or another person's account. You can even trade or transfer to the same profile. The way it works is that you go into the trading menu and select the pokemon you want to trade, the pokemon will be removed from your profile and in exchange you will get a code. You can then trade that code with somebody. Once you have a code that you want to use, you go to the trading menu and insert the code, that pokemon will now be added into your storage.  You will be able to trade shiny pokemon. Pokemon that are traded or transferred do not gain any benefit to how much experience they gain. Pokemon that evolve from trading will evolve when you trade or transfer them in any of these ways. Pokemon that will evolve when traded are Graveler, Kadabra, Machoke, Haunter. Note: Only Graveler is in the game as of v2.4.

This week's update is starting to shape up so I figured I would keep you guys updated on what's happening. Let's get to it.

Fixes/Tweaks: Pretty much all of these fixes are due to feedback that all of you have given me, either directly or indirectly. So keep it coming :) (Note: All these fixes are finished and will be available on this update coming up)
                                                  1. Fixed badges showing up on profiles that didn't earn the badge yet.
                                                  2. Level Select screen no longer requires scrolling (more of grid style).
                                                  3. Shiny pokemon will get more experience per kill, roughly 50% more.
                                                  4. If you have your sound fx and music muted, leveling up or evolving will no longer be heard.
                                                  5. Lowered the amount of time the evolving popup window stays on before your pokemon evolves.
                                                  6. Added an small animation to your pokemon when it's evolving.
                                                  7. Pokemon that can't be captured now have a dark blue life bar.
                                                  8. The game version number will be on the main screen so you know which version you are playing.
                                                  9. Game saves more often now. (When you exit a level, and when you exit or enter the party select screen).
                                                  10. Changed "Attack Speed" to "Attack Cooldown" in the attack description so that it makes more sense what that number really means.
                                                  11. When your pokemon is ready to level up but you don't have enough money, he will have a red arrow but it won't blink anymore. Once you have enough money it will blink. This applies both to the party select screen and when you are playing a level.
                                                  12. The graphic for Water gun is now 50% faster (Thanks zShenanigans)
                                                  13. Pressing the back button (on phones) will in a level, will now show the exit confirmation dialog box.
                                                  14.  The game will no longer let your phone go into sleep mode while it is on.
                                                  15. Route 1 (Level 2) -Changed the spot close to the candy, moved it up so that it's easier to select your pokemon in that spot and added more room at the bottom of the level so that you can select the pokemon at the bottom row.
                                                  16. Route 2 (Level 3) -
                                                  17. Moved the spot close to the candy to make it more useful.
                                                  18. Pewter Gym (Level 5) - You will not have a pokemon taken away from you on this level, the intro was changed slightly to make up for this.
                                                  19. Viridian Forest (Level 4) - Slightly tweaked how the bug catcher meets joey.

                                                  • Skip button showing up before you viewed the intro at least once.
                                                  • All free roam pokemon will now give out money, but at a reduced rate. (1 per pokemon)
                                                  • Added more room at the bottom of the level so that you can select pokemon at the bottom row.

Who's Dan? and what has he been up to? Preview of Ninja-ja!

                                                  Backstory time!
It was about five years ago that I decided it was time to get a real job. I ended up getting hired at a warehouse that some of my buddies worked in. It was there that I meet a young fellow named Dan. He seemed smart and very into video games. His brother who also worked there introduced us when he found out that we both had played World of Warcraft at some point. So Dan and I started talking about games and I was already into making games by then but had never finished anything. So I started throwing ideas at him that he could quickly and efficiently break down and destroy. He could tell me exactly why it wouldn't work. So for months I tried to come up with a something that even he couldn't find a fault to. Well I did come up with something, and finally got his attention. Also turns out that he was a graphic artist, so it was a perfect match.

So we both sit down and bounce ideas off each other until we reach an idea that we can both agree on. So far we have released one game together. While I have branched out and made 3 separate smaller games on my own, this next game, Ninja-ja, is our second game together.

Usually I come up with the game concept and we team up together to flesh out all the details, but one day I went to Dan and said hey why don't you come up with a concept. Dan already had one in mind even before I asked, and that is Ninja-ja.

Ninja-ja is designed to be played on a multi-touch device (most smart phones). You use two fingers (usually your thumbs) to guide your weapon where you want it to go.
